Visit Ayutthaya 


Ayutthaya, a former capital of Thailand from 1350 to 1767, is and interesting historic spot visited by large numbers of tourists on a one-day trip from Bangkok. Unlike other tourist centres, Ayutthaya's main attraction is not its beautiful scenery, but its calm atmosphere with the remains resulting from the destruction by the invading Burmese army in 1767. The ruins offer the visitors a glimpse of old Ayutthaya, with once was a prosperous and majestic capital with over 400 magnificent Buddhist monasteries.
The ruins can be seen in the area called the Old Capital in the centre of the city. Other interesting places are Wat Mongkhon Bophit where Thailand's biggest bronze Buddha image is enshrined, Wat Phananchoeng which is a place of worship most frequently visited by local people, and Chao Sam Phraya Museum which keeps invaluable artistic treasures discovered from the ruins.

Tourist Attractions Ayutthaya

The Ayutthaya attractions are many and diverse. The Province of Ayutthaya is steeped in history and so has many interesting attractions. The most famous Ayutthaya attraction is the Ayutthaya Historical Park, which has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Ayutthaya used to be the capital of Thailand till 1767.

Chandra Kasem Palace - A branch of the National Museum, the splendid Chandra Kasem (Chankasem) Palace in Ayuttaya was built in 1577 by King Maha Thamaraja (the 17th Ayutthaya monarch) for his son, who became King Naresuan. Visit the Ayutthaya temples on a cultural day trip from Bangkok, it's a highlight of any Thailand visit. You will also see the summer palace of King Rama IV with its mixture of Thai, Chinese and Gothic architecture. The palace is a well-preserved 'museum', providing a glimpse into a time when Thailand was known as Siam.

Chili dip or 'nam prik' is a typical dish served together with fresh vegetables which are in season such as cucumbers, morning glory stalks, makok leaves, cha-om and gratin. There are many types of chili paste dips distinguished by the main ingredients or the techniques in making dips.
Not only eaten with fresh vegetables, the chili paste dip is also applied to make many more complex dishes. The spicy Thai salad or 'yam' also derived from dipping. 'Yam' or Thai-style salad usually refers the dish with has sweet and sour taste and has a great aroma from some herbs such as kaffir lime leaves, and lemongrass.
